Hello, our problem is money. I became totally disabled in 2000 due to an injury from work that was not recorded properly at the time, so needless to say I had no grounds to stand on to fight for workers compensation. Instead I receive Social Security disability that took over 2 years to acquire.
My husband also was injured at the same place of employment and after years of stringing him along like they were going to help him, when he was terminated and forced to file for his Social Security disabilty that took 3 years for him to receive. This was in 2002.
Social Security did go back and pay us from day one of our disability, but after Uncle Sam and the Attorneys took their share, we had very little left. We had borrowed from every family member on both sides to keep our heads above water for the 2 years we were completely without income. We paid back as many people as we could with what we received. There is still a balance of $18,549.00 still owed to family and friends that helped us in our time of need.
We are not people that accept charity easily but we do not see another way to pay these people back. Our income barely covers the necessities of life therefore we have nothing to pay the dear people that saved us from being homeless. If you could find it in your hearts to guide us to a solution we would always be grateful and pray for you daily.
